About Dynomite Farm
A Sense of Place, in Bloom
Dynomite Farm is an award-winning organic flower farm and urban homestead in Santa Cruz, California.
We grow award-winning dahlias and craft farm experiences that are the antidote to the speed and digital screens of Silicon Valley.
We farm small on purpose. Our guests consistently leave five-star Google reviews and we’re grateful to bring joy into the day of every visitor.
Seasons Shape the Experience
Spring Flowers (March –May)
Ranunculus return as winter lets go. It’s a spectacular moment in the garden as the first colors or spring flood the garden.
Summer & Fall (June – October)
Dahlias take the stage. More than 2,000 blooms, 500+ plants, and 90+ varieties. It’s a living gallery of form, color, and texture; a visual treat for visitors—and a delight to bring home.
Winter (November – February)
The dahlias are lifted, rinsed, divided, labeled, and tucked into peat moss, stored at 42°F, and resting for planting in April. Ranunculus are already in the ground, waiting for February to send up their first green shoots. The bees stay home in the hive. It’s a quiet time in the garden while we focus on maintenance, planning, and upkeep.
Our Private U-Cut Flower Experience
By appointment only, our one-of-a-kind Private U-Cut Flower Experience gives you the garden to yourself—and to the friends and family you want to share it with. Walk the beds and cut the flowers that speak to you. Unhurried. Personal. Entirely yours.
“Had a lovely time visiting this absolute gem of an urban farm right in the heart of Live Oak. Marcus is a super gracious host and brilliant farmer, we loved getting to pick from their selection of diverse and gorgeous dahlias and create our own bouquets to take home!”

Our Intimate Event Space
Linger by the gas fire pit for s’mores, host a cozy book club, or toast a graduation or birthday at golden hour. We curate experiences for individuals, date nights, and small groups so every visit feels effortless and thoughtfully held.
A Farm That Feeds Itself—and You
Our bees gift natural, raw honey. Our hens provide fresh eggs. Fruit trees—plum, pluot, apricot, apple, and persimmon—anchor the orchard while raspberry and blackberry brambles and blueberries thread sweetness through the season. Birds, bees, compost, and flowers connect in an integrated, regenerative system rooted in organic principles and careful hands.
How We Started—and Why We’re Still Going
First planted in 2016 in terrible dirt, we grew a few rows of garlic and strawberries that both tried mightily. The garden failed, but not our spirit. By 2024 we fully committed to flowers across the garden and full-time.
As we begin 2026, we celebrate our third year in flowers and tenth year tending this patch of urban soil. And we couldn’t have gotten this far without the support of our members and the larger community.
Where You’ll Find Us
We’re urban and easy to reach in the Live Oak neighborhood of Santa Cruz, California—one mile from the Pacific Ocean and just off the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1) on the ocean side.
