Black Satin is a 4-inch formal decorative in a deep black-red with a satiny sheen, close in color to chocolate cosmos. The neat, layered petals give it a polished look that stands out against lighter flowers.
Swan Island Dahlias introduced it, and it is a reliable, prolific grower with lots of long stems for arranging. Plants reach 4 to 5 feet, and it is also a good tuber producer. It still wins on the show table, including the ADS Cream of the Crop in 2025. Every Black Satin tuber we ship is grown, hand-divided and inspected at division here at Dynomite Farm in Santa Cruz.
