Bloomquist Jean has 6 to 8-inch informal decorative blooms in coppery orange streaked with golden yellow. Its pointed, reflexed petals curl back in an unusual, playful way, and the color has an iridescent shimmer in the sun.
It is one of the most awarded dahlias on the show circuit: winner of the ADS Stanley Johnson Medal in 2021 and the Les Connell Medal in 2023, with more than 200 blue ribbons or better in 2025 alone. Paul and Barbara Bloomquist named it for fellow hybridizer Jean Heeringa. Tall, vigorous plants reach 4 feet and up. Every Bloomquist Jean tuber we ship is grown, hand-divided and inspected at division here at Dynomite Farm in Santa Cruz.
