Flower picking Santa Cruz is a rare experience — and Dynomite Farm is one of the few places in the area where you can do it privately, organically, and with over 100 dahlia varieties blooming around you.
We are a small, appointment-only flower farm in a Santa Cruz neighborhood. From late June through October, we open the beds for private U-Cut Flower Experiences. You arrive, the farm is yours, and you spend 90 minutes cutting your own bouquet from flowers that are as fresh as they will ever be.

Most flower picking experiences put you in a field with dozens of other visitors. Dynomite Farm is the opposite. We welcome one private party at a time, by appointment only. When you are here, the farm is entirely yours.
There are no crowds. No waiting. No rushing through rows to grab stems before someone else does. Just you, the flowers, 90 minutes of unhurried time in the beds, and a bouquet you cut yourself.
We grow organically — no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, ever. The flowers you cut at Dynomite Farm are as clean and healthy as they are beautiful.
When you arrive for your U-Cut appointment, we walk you through the beds and show you what is blooming and ready to cut. We provide buckets and clippers. Then the time is yours.
You walk the rows. You choose the stems that catch your eye — the deep burgundy dinner plate that stops you mid-row, the soft peachy pompon you want three of, the cream and coral spray that fills the gaps perfectly. You cut as you go.
Most guests spend the full 90 minutes in the field. Most leave with far more flowers than they planned. That is the nature of flower picking Santa Cruz style — the abundance is real, and it is hard to stop.
At the end of your visit you have a bucket full of stems you cut yourself, from a farm you experienced firsthand. The bouquet goes home with you, arranged your way, in your own vases.
Timing your visit to the peak of dahlia bloom makes a significant difference in how many varieties are available to cut.
Our dahlia season runs late June through October. Peak bloom is typically mid-July through mid-September, when all 19 beds are at full color and the 100+ varieties are simultaneously open. Early season visits in late June offer a beautiful but smaller selection as the plants build toward their full potential.
The ranunculus season — a completely different and equally beautiful experience — runs late March through mid-May.
