Santa Cruz flower farm website rebuild

Behind the Scenes at Dynomite Farm — the laptop aspect

Behind the scenes at Dynomite Farm, most of the work happens in the field. This week it happened at a laptop, because we rebuilt our Santa Cruz flower farm website from the ground up.

I want to share a little of what that looked like and why it matters for the farm and particularly for small flower farms and urban homesteads.

Why our Santa Cruz flower farm website needed a rebuild

Our old site had gotten hard to navigate. Visitors told us it was confusing, and they were right. For a farm that runs entirely on online reservations, a website that works well isn’t optional, it’s how you reach us.

Read our full guide to flower picking in Santa Cruz to see what a visit looks like from your side.

So we rebuilt from scratch rather than patch the old one. It meant days behind the laptop instead of out in the beds. It meant rethinking every page, every product, every booking flow.

It was the right call.

The farm is appointment-only by design. Every reservation, every membership, every dahlia tuber order runs through the website. Getting it right means you get a smooth experience from the first click to the moment you walk through the gate.

What we built

Our new Santa Cruz flower farm website is built around one goal: making it easy to come see the farm.

The booking flow is simpler. The membership pages are clearer. The tuber shop is easier to navigate. And the journal, where you’re reading this right now, is where we’ll keep sharing what’s happening on the farm through the season.

We also rebuilt the email confirmations, the member portal, and the calendar. When you book a U-Cut Flower Experience, you get a clear confirmation with everything you need. When you join as a member, your account works the way it should.

Behind every good farm visit is a system running quietly in the background. That’s what we built.

What hasn’t changed

The website is new. The farm is the same.

Learn more about what we grow and when to visit in our guide to Santa Cruz dahlias, 500+ plants across 100+ varieties, July through October.

We still grow dahlias, ranunculus, and seasonal flowers across 19 raised beds. We still welcome one private party at a time, by appointment only. We still feed our soil with organic compost. And we still believe a morning spent cutting flowers on a small farm is one of the most restorative things you can do.

The new site exists to make it easier for you to get here. That’s its only job.

Have questions about visiting? Our FAQ page covers booking, membership, dahlia season, and more.

Come see the farm

The 2026 dahlia season opens in late June. Reservations are open now, and we’d book early if we were you. The calendar fills fast once the blooms come in.

If you want the closest relationship with the farm, membership is the path. Members get two included U-Cut visits for the season, companion passes, and early access to the dahlia tuber shop each spring.
